We Need Your Help
More than 4,200 Canadians become infected with HIV every year and Huron County is not immune to this disease. An estimated 15,000 Canadians who are infected don't even know it and can pass on HIV through unprotected sex, sharing needles, tattooing, piercing or acupuncture with unsterilized needles.
HIV can also be passed from mother to child during pregnancy, birth, or through breastfeeding. In
Canada, about 25% of all new HIV infections occur in women. Young women now account for over 40% of all infections in people between 15 - 29 years old.
The Huron County HIV / AIDS Network is on a mission to stop the spread of this disease and in addition to helping those living with HIV / AIDS, HCHAN is also dedicated to educating the public. There is no cure and the risk of infection will not go away just because we don't like to talk about it. The risk of infection is growing, yes - even in Huron County and education is the best way to get our message across.
Please support us in our fight against HIV / AIDS. Call the office to request a speaker for your group. Funding is needed in order to keep Huron County HIV / AIDS Network providing the education and support crucial to the lives of Youth and women. (Crucial to everyone at risk of HIV or currently living with HIV / AIDS)
Donations can also be made by cheque. HCHAN is a registered charity and tax receipts will be issued for any donation of $10 or more. If you would like a receipt, please be sure to include your full name and physical address along with your donation.
